Succulent Wall - Drip

For this full-scale prototype, the goal was a self-installed product that could be customizable and work in a range of conditions. Designed for single family homes, ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units), and backyard sheds, the product would allow for the harvest and storage of rainwater integrated with an auto-irrigating vertical garden.

Many considerations were made when developing this prototype including urban spatial constrains and building codes for rainwater collection. The result was a vertical gardening system, reduces a household’s environmental footprint as well as aesthetically modified rain barrel with a water capacity of 75 gallons.

Rainwater is safe to drink after simple treatment, and the durable bladder skin could protect its quality on an average day or in the case of an emergency. If the house grew edible plants in the pocket system, a decorative garden wall would also be a fresh food bank.
